In-Depth Expert Guide
Everything you need to know about golf club length.
Why Club Length Matters
Proper golf club length is crucial for a consistent and effective swing. It directly influences your posture, swing plane, and ability to strike the ball cleanly. A club that's too long or too short can lead to poor habits and inconsistent shots. Getting the length right is the first step toward building a reliable, repeatable swing.
How the Calculator Works
Our calculator uses the industry-standard method of combining your total height with your wrist-to-floor measurement. This combination gives a solid, data-based starting point for your recommended club length. Your height provides a baseline, while the wrist-to-floor measurement refines the recommendation by accounting for your specific arm length and body proportions.
A Note for Taller Players
It all depends on the length of your arms, i.e., your wrist-to-floor length. Most really tall players (over 6'2") find they benefit from using shafts that are +0.5" to +1.0" longer than standard in their irons. For them, this simple adjustment can make a huge difference in posture and consistency. If you're tall, it's definitely worth getting fitted.
Detailed Measuring Instructions
For the most useful results, follow these steps: 1. Wear Golf Shoes: Put on the shoes you typically wear to play golf. 2. Stand Naturally: Stand on a hard, level surface with your feet shoulder-width apart, arms hanging relaxed at your sides. 3. Get a Helper: Have someone else measure from the crease of your wrist (where your hand meets your arm) straight down to the floor. Do not bend or reach. Repeat a few times to ensure consistency.
